Preparation for DIY Toilet Paper Tube Pencil Case
- Wet Glue ( I use this Japanese glue for craft. Very good quality, I recommend!)
- 3 Origami Papers Size 15cm x 15 cm / about 6″x 6″
- 3 Toilet Paper Tubes (2 of them should be the same sized / types.)
- Scotch Tape
- Any thick paper to close the bottoms
How to Make Monster Pencil Case
Step 1. Close the bottoms
Use any thick papers to close the bottoms. ( I used the ice cream container box)
Pencil around the tube, cut it out.
Use the scotch tape, long enough so you can put it across like this ==>> X to close the bottom.
Step 2. Cut out Origami Paper for bottom
Once you put the lid, pencil the bottom on origami paper.
Choose any colour you want
When you pencil, be sure that it has some extra space around it. Say, 2cm / 1″.
I will show you the reason on a next step.
Make sure you have extra space!!
Draw roughy extra space.
This doesn’t have to be pretty line because this will be hidden by origami paper.
Step 3. Decorate the lid
First put the glue on the lid. Then place the circle-cut origami.
Second put the glue around the tube, under the lid.
Insert some cuts like the photo below.
Those cuts will make easy to squeeze and put origami paper firm.
Repeat the same process for #2 Toilet Paper Tube.
Step 4. Decorate the tube
Take another Origami paper, major the length to fit in to the tube.
Simply glue it.
Step 5. Make the “inside” tube
Now take the 3rd Toilet Paper Tube.
Cut it all the way.
Then roll it smaller, put it inside of the a tube.
Use a scotch tape to fit perfectly.
You don’t want it loose. Make sure it’s tight-fit.
Then make sure to tape inside as well. Use a pen or something long, in order to reach inside the tube.
Step 6. Monsters are coming in
When you put origami papers for both tubes, it’s time for Monsters to come in!
Go ahead and get my drawings from library.
Cut out monsters.
You don’t have to cut exactly following the outline. Round up the shape, cut the whatever the easy way.
Step 7. Paste Monsters
Then cut Monsters following the “cutting line”.
Glue Monsters to the tube! Done!
I hope you and kids enjoy this hand craft.
Let me know how you guys like it!
