Hello! If you are first time visiting my blog, Thank you and Nice to meet you :)
My name is Koko, I'm a Japanese Illustrator.
I share Drawing tutorials and inspirations. I hope to help your (your kids) creativity!
You will love this activity simply because….
- you don’t need to prepare materials
- you don’t need to learn anything
- you don’t need to go anywhere
and the best part is you can use this play for any aged kids, from infants, toddlers and older – as long as they enjoy it!
It’s super simple, but very fun. You don’t need art skills, or
What does that mean?! I am going to explain the details, with my illustration!
I figured sometimes it’s easier to see than read. (as many of us are visual people, I suppose? 🙂 )
“Let’s make Pizza”
Step 1. Let’s Start!
Lay your kid in frond of you.
Say something like, “Today Mama is going to make Pizza on your tummy!”
Step 2. Let’s make a pizza dough!
Pretend that you’re rolling the dough, on your kid’s stomach.
It’s gonna be ticklish!
Step 3. Slice and Chop up vegetables!
After rolling the dough, you need to slice vegetables!
Use kids legs or arms as a “cutting board”, slice and chop them!
In this drawing I’m slicing mushrooms.
You can ask your kids what topping they want.
Try to help them come up with crazy funny ideas!
How about Rainbow Mushrooms? or Super Giant pepperoni that flies in the sky !?
Something crazy and fun! No limit for imagination!
You can of course, spread tomato pizza sauces, sprinkle cheese over the pizza,
anything you can for preparation!
Step 4. Bake in a oven
When your pizza is ready, you need to bake it in a oven.
Let’s imagine the stone real oven that pizza shops use in Italy…!
You tell your kid “Now it’s time to bake!” and use the hand to sending the heat.
Step 5. It’s done!
“Diiing!” (like Microwave finished sound)
I know the stone ovens don’t have a bell,
but this is a play…so use imagination, anything is possible!
“Pizza is done!!!! Woa, it smells sooooo nice!!”
Step 6. Let’s eat.
Of course you need to eat after the hard work!
So, let eat the pizza – open your mouth big…. YUUUUUM!!!!!
This is it!
See how simple, easy, fun this activity is!?
Not only pizza, but you can “cook” whatever the dish your kids want!
You can do this anywhere – on a bed, couch, outside the yard, park.
I’ve been doing this play since Z is an infant. It was easier when he was a baby, because on step 6 I used to grab his whole body to eat. Now he’s too big, but still we enjoy it.
As he grows, his vocabulary gets bigger so more items to cook.
Sometimes I ask him “what food has red color? I want to add something red.” then he goes ” pepper!”
You can make any questions during the cooking.
I’ve seen this kind of body-touch-play in Japanese culture,
where mother and kids play together ‘touching’ each other. Do you have a similar activities in your country too?
The most important is that you and your kids have a great time – laughing!
