6 HYGGE DOODLES! – Part 1 !
I live in Denmark – I DO KNOW what Hygge is!
Hygge is a Danish word, it comes from Danish culture and it plays a huuuge role in Danish life.
Denmark is all about Hygge.
Hygge is one of the first words that us, foreigners would learn. 🙂
According to my Danish husband, Hygge is something you can’t translate perfectly in English…
humm….Hygge is just not cozy or nice of fun…. I just can’t translate it..
I know each language have some kind of words that cannot be translated perfectly to English. (We have tons in Japanese, too!) But here, let’s say Hygge is …. Cozy, Warm, Mellow, Nice, …. hope you get the ideas!
Today I’ve made some Hygge Doodles.
Let’s take a look!

Little bit of Hygge- what’s really, Hygge?
I once spoke with my Danish friend, what she considers as Hygge. In Danish standards, it can be anything. You and friends can sit on a couch, watch a movie, sharing popcorn. That’s Hygge.
Your kids and you make a muffins together and eat over hot tea. That’s Hygge.
I remember when me and my husband lived apart, (I was in USA, he was in Denmark,) he went to visit friends over weekend – I asked, “did you have fun?” then he said, “yeah, it was nice!” – but in his mind he wished how much he could have said, “It was hygge. (Det var hyggeligt).”
Hygge can be summer, spring, …. all year around.
It’s the term to enjoy being with someone, or doing something. 😀
